Together with my two extraordinary colleagues we won the SECOND place on the very first world hackathon focused on Business Central. Coding4BC took place on 18 – 20.11.2020 and was greatly supported from the most-known capacities from Business Central world (judges like Erik “Waldo” Wauters or Freddy Kristiansen).
There were various interesting topics available, we chose to build solution for managing AL objects for multi-project development. Working without such tool is painful and usually leads to problems such as duplicity object ID/name/etc… in two projects.
During 48 hours on the hackathon, we created the core exntesions for both Business Central and Visual Studio Code. The Business Central extension manage all processes for storing and assigning objects whereas the VS Code extension is created to allow developers get a new object/field ID and verify the object name easily directly within the VS Code.
All our source codes are available publicly on GitHub (VS Code Extension, Business Central Extension). We will update these codes in the near future so they will be usable for anyone. We alse plan to publish the VS Code extension on Visual Studio Code Market.
It was a great time for me personally, and if you are not decided yet whether to attend this hackathon next year, definitely try it!
